The Pride Celebration promises to be an unforgettable experience, featuring a wide range of activities and festivities that will bring the community together. The event will kick off with the Town of Westport Second Selectwoman, Andrea Moore, and Third Selectwoman, Candice Savin, issuing a Proclamation recognizing June as Pride Month in the town, further emphasizing Westport's commitment to fostering inclusivity and acceptance.
One of the highlights of the event will be the dedication of the newly installed rainbow crosswalk, a powerful symbol of unity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. In addition, the Progress Pride Flag will be raised over Jesup Green, serving as a vibrant reminder of the ongoing progress towards equality.
Westport's esteemed state delegates, Senator Ceci Maher, Representatives Dominique Johnson, and Jonathan Steinberg, will be present to present an Official General Assembly Citation, further underscoring the significance of this celebration. Their support demonstrates the commitment of Westport's government to promoting diversity and advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a wide range of exciting activities throughout the day. Children and adults alike can partake in arts and crafts, face painting, balloon twisting, nail polishing, and enjoy a photo booth and yard games. With a plethora of entertaining options, there will be no shortage of fun for everyone.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, 20 members of the Westport LGBTQ+ community and its allies will take the stage to share musical performances and their personal stories of perseverance, integrity, and hope. These captivating performances and personal narratives will inspire and uplift attendees, celebrating the strength and resilience within the community.
Visitors can also explore the various vendor and community organization tables that will be set up at the event. Approximately a dozen vendors will be on hand to showcase their offerings, and community organizations will provide valuable information and resources to those seeking support and connections.
No celebration is complete without delicious food, and Westport Pride will not disappoint. Two food trucks will be on-site, offering a delectable array of culinary delights for attendees to enjoy while immersing themselves in the festivities.
Westport Pride extends its heartfelt gratitude to its generous sponsors, whose support has made this event possible. Special thanks to Illume Fertility, Village Pediatrics, Circle Care Center, Dan Woog, Leonard-Litz LGBTQ Foundation, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Worldwide Surrogacy Specialists, and Positive Directions for their unwavering commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
